Host an Anchor group

Anchor groups meet in homes because students tend to relax and talk more easily there. Hosts provide the space and an adult presence. The Mentor and Student Leaders handle the program.

The role

What hosting involves

Hosts make an ordinary home available for a group of teenagers and their leaders. Most groups rotate among two or three homes, so hosting does not normally mean opening your home every week.

A host adult remains home while the group meets. The Adult Mentor supervises, and the Student Leaders lead the program.

What you provide

What the home needs

Gathering space

A comfortable area where the full group can talk, play a game, and open Scripture.

Smaller corners

When possible, a second area where students can break into smaller groups to share and pray.

A clear arrival

Simple instructions for parking, shoes, gates, pets, or anything else families should know.

An adult at home

A host adult remains present while the group meets.

The Mentor handles

What hosts are not responsible for

Teaching

Mentors and Student Leaders prepare and lead the Bible study and discussion.

Planning

The Mentor manages the calendar and tells you when your home is scheduled.

Weekly snacks

Parents rotate snacks. Hosts are not expected to feed the group each week.

Group communication

The Mentor communicates with parents and shares the weekly location directly.

Safety + privacy

Safety and privacy

Orientation first

Hosts complete Anchor’s child-safety orientation before the first meeting in their home.

Addresses stay private

Home locations are sent only to registered families and are never posted on the public website.

Finish on time

Groups wrap at 8:00 PM and families are asked to pick up promptly.

When someone is sick

Anchor uses a 24-hour fever-free rule and asks students to stay home when they are unwell.
