Mentor + leader meeting
Set a fixed weekly time to pray, invest in your Student Leaders, prepare the next group, and assign roles.
Adult Mentors
Adult Mentors meet with Student Leaders during the week and supervise their younger group on Wednesday. The main responsibility is to prepare the leaders, then let them lead.
Ask about mentoringThe role
Each grade- and gender-based group has one or two Adult Mentors and two to four Student Leaders. On Wednesday evenings, the Mentor supervises while the Student Leaders lead games, Bible study, and small-group prayer.
You may teach occasionally, but most weeks you listen, coach, step in when needed, and make sure every student is safe and included. Student Leaders need room to try, make mistakes, and improve.
Weekly rhythm
Set a fixed weekly time to pray, invest in your Student Leaders, prepare the next group, and assign roles.
Be present from 6:30–8:00 PM. Supervise the group, listen, and let the Student Leaders carry the parts they prepared.
Send a short weekly email with the host location, snack sign-up, and any special information.
What you own
Build and maintain the host calendar with the families who open their homes.
Keep the group calendar and parent contact information current and appropriately private.
Create a prompt-pickup culture and finish at 8:00 PM so hosts and families can plan confidently.
Welcome a first visit and make sure family contact information is collected before the next meeting.
Content
You and your Student Leaders choose the content together. Many groups study a book of the Bible; others choose a topic suited to their students. Most nights include a game, Bible study, and small-group prayer.
Anchor includes families from many Christian backgrounds, so groups stay on the shared ground of the Anchor Statement of Faith. Training equips teams in an inductive approach to Scripture and discussion.
Getting started
New Mentors complete a short application, provide references, and meet with the Anchor team.
Complete an appropriate background check for your passport country.
Complete Anchor’s child-protection form and training before the first meetings.
Attend the combined Mentor + Student Leader training on Saturday, August 29, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.
